IVF Acupuncture Middlesbrough
Acupuncture For IVF - Middlesbrough
Navigating IVF can be overwhelming, both physically and emotionally.
I’m Rachael English, a fertility-focused acupuncturist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through every stage of their fertility journey.
I run two calming, private clinics in Northallerton and Yarm — both just a short drive from Middlesbrough — where I offer personalised acupuncture treatments designed to complement and support IVF cycles.
I’ve had the privilege of training under Naava Carman, one of the leading voices in complex fertility support.
I’m one of only a handful of practitioners globally who have completed her advanced training, which focuses on treating challenging reproductive conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS, recurrent miscarriage, and reproductive immunology issues.
This specialist training has deepened my understanding of how to support even the most complex fertility journeys with skill, sensitivity, and a highly personalised approach.
Each treatment is tailored to your cycle stage. Whether you’re preparing for stimulation, egg collection, transfer, or the two-week wait. I take the time to understand your medical history, emotional wellbeing, and fertility goals, so your plan is grounded in both clinical experience and compassionate care.
If you’re based in or near Middlesbrough and looking for experienced, supportive IVF acupuncture, I’d love to help.
Why Work With Rachael
Rachael has over 15 years of clinical experience and completed a four-year degree in acupuncture before going on to specialise in fertility care.
For 12 years she worked in a busy and highly regarded fertility clinic in Leeds, supporting hundreds of clients through IVF, ICSI, and assisted conception treatment.
During this time she worked with patients attending many different fertility clinics across the UK and internationally, including clients travelling to London, Manchester, and overseas clinics for treatment. This has given her a unique depth of experience in supporting IVF cycles and adapting acupuncture treatment to align with each clinic’s individual protocols.
Every fertility clinic works slightly differently, and Rachael is experienced in adjusting treatment plans to support each stage of a client’s IVF journey whilst also focusing on the individual needs of the person or couple in front of her.
This experience allows her to provide thoughtful, personalised support throughout IVF treatment, helping clients feel calmer, more supported, and physically prepared during what can be an intense time.
How Acupuncture Works
How Acupuncture Works During IVF
Research suggests acupuncture may support IVF outcomes through several physiological mechanisms. Studies indicate that acupuncture can influence the hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian (HPO) axis, helping regulate hormonal signalling between the brain and ovaries. It has also been shown to increase blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, which may support endometrial thickness and follicular development.
Acupuncture activates the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing sympathetic overdrive and lowering stress hormones such as cortisol — factors that can impact implantation and reproductive function. Emerging research also suggests acupuncture may modulate inflammatory and immune responses, potentially supporting a more receptive uterine environment during embryo transfer.
While acupuncture does not replace medical treatment, it works alongside IVF to optimise the internal conditions that support implantation and early pregnancy.
